Hamilton Adhesive Labels Ltd was founded in 1992 with a clear aim. To supply a quality product on time at a competitive price, sounds easy but to achieve all 3 was no mean feat back then. Within 4 years turnover was approaching £2,000,000. A separate company was formed, Thermal Transfer Media to convert and sell Thermal Transfer Ribbons. This company became the largest independent manufacture of Thermal Transfer Ribbons in Europe.It quickly became clear that to support the rapidly growing business a larger production facility was required and we moved into a 10,000 square feet unit in April 1996.
In 1998 the company decided to make a major investment in new Nilpeter machinery for the manufacture of high quality multi-colour labels.
In 2000 a substantial offer was received to buy the thermal transfer ribbon side of the business, which was then sold to ITW. Hamilton subsequently formed an agreement to become a major UK distributor for Armor the World's leading thermal transfer ribbon manufacturer. This enabled customers to buy labels and ribbons from a single source where performance and compatibility have been extensively tested.
Following the continued success of the business and sustained growth, it became clear that the company would quickly outgrow its manufacturing site. A new business plan was developed and implemented during 2007.
In March 2007 we purchased our brand new purpose built 25,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Bardon, Leicestershire. After extensively fitting out the interior of the unit, the layout was key as accreditation with British Retail Consortium was becoming a major goal for the business. The factory was declared fully operational on 2nd July 2007. The investment in the building and fixtures was approximately £1,750,000. All the company's employees were relocated to the new site.
The continued development of the company has been supported by investment in Labeltraxx - a new MIS computer system which was purchased in January 2007. Hamilton Adhesive labels were the first company in Europe to install this software which has been successfully installed and is now fully operational from prospects through to full management accounts with stock control of raw materials and finished goods now fully computerised.
